Hello my name is Rob Gresty I am amateur radio station, N3RLL. I heard on the radio this morning that WWB was going to go off the air. It appears you are still on the air so I was wondering why the rumor was being circulated around the Internet. Since you can’t believe everything you read I figured I would just contact you and see if all was well. 73 N3RLL

Mr. Gresty:
Thanks for your concern about NIST’s time and frequency radio stations.
The President’s full FY 2019 budget request to the Congress does propose closing NIST’s time and frequency radio stations. See the link below for a brief description on page NIST 25 of why WWVB, WWV and WWH are proposed for shut down. However, no changes to NIST services have occurred.

Here is a link to the NIST Budget Table for the FY2019 Presidential Request:

In case it is helpful, below are links describing progress in the House and Senate to date to pass an appropriations bill and/or continuing resolution that would provide funding to NIST.
House: https://appropriations.house.gov/news/documentsingle.aspx?DocumentID=395291

Senate: https://www.appropriations.senate.gov/news/subcommittee-approves-fy2019-commerce-justice-science-appropriations-bill

Continuing Resolution HR 6157: https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/6157
We will not know whether or not the NIST radio stations will continue operations until after the Congress enacts an FY 2019 appropriations law and the actual level of NIST funding for Scientific and Technical Research and Services is known. No changes have occurred to NIST services at this time.
